Optical Lab Technician


  • Order prescription optical lenses from Suppliers

  • Operate laboratory equipment to polish and edge lenses for eyeglasses according to spectacle prescriptions and fit lenses into frames

  • Lay out eyeglass lenses to direct the curving and cutting, and measuring lens power

  • Verify lens power

  • Maintain and repair optical laboratory equipment and machines

  • Make minor repair to spectacle frames such as replacing frame screws, straightening frames or replacing nose pads


  • Must have basic computer skills

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Must be able to work well independently

  • Must have good customer service skills and demeanor with the ability to study and interpret customer issues

  • Must be able to focus on details

  • Must have good fine motor skills to manipulate small objects and instruments
