The Ontario Opticians Association has been the official voice of Ontario Opticians for over 70 years. The Association's Mandate is to enhance, promote and protect the profession of Opticianry.
WHAT IS AN OPTICIAN?
An Optician is a licensed healthcare professional specially trained to help you achieve optimum vision with the application of eyeglasses, contact lenses, low vision aids and prosthetic ocular devices. Opticians interpret written prescriptions from ophthalmologists (medical doctors) and optometrists (non-medical eye care professionals) to determine the specifications of ophthalmic appliances necessary to correct a persons’ eyesight.
NAIT Refraction Programs is now accredited by the College of Opticians of Ontario.
The NAIT Refraction program is intended for Licensed Opticians who wish to enrich their professional development and enhance their opticianry skill set by learning theories and methodologies involved in refraction
When you join the Ontario Opticians Association (OOA) you will also enjoy the benefits of the Opticians Association of Canada (OAC). For one low annual fee, you will become a member of both associations.
It’s through the support of our industry sponsors that the Ontario Opticians Association is able to represent and provide services to Ontario opticians. Be sure to let these companies know you appreciate their support by thanking them and using their products and services.
