Define, Refine and Compensate- Brian Boddy, ABOM

Don’t you wish that when someone walked through your door you could tell what type of progressive to put them in? We will discuss some general tips on how to help you discover the ideal progressive for your patients and then offer suggestions on how to make the lenses better. Some refining questions will be offered along with compensation explanation and enhancement

3D Digital Patient Data & the Future of Opticianry- Dr. Milan Madhavji

The evolution of digital tools has enabled the digital capture of facial dimensions through low cost, easy to use equipment. Learn how various consumer level digital equipment is being used for the acquisition of optical measurements and the impacts on opticians in a clinical setting.

“The Space Between”- Dr. Jonathan Wareham, OD

How do we perceive space and what happens when systems go awry?  Attendees will leave this presentation with an understanding that visual perception is 3D not 2D and must be considered when understanding visual complaints. Eyecare professionals must be mindful of spatial distortions when prescribing and filling prescriptions as some patients will be negatively affected. Thinking in terms of space helps us to successfully treat patients with difficult to understand complaints.

My Day Toric:A premium opportunity to meet more patient’s needs- Janice Schmidt, RO

The objective of this presentation is to understand the premium market opportunity with astigmatic patients who are currently spectacle only wearers, or spectacle and spherical contact lens wearers. As there are more choices than ever for 1 day toric contact lenses, Eye Care Professionals can be confident when fitting their astigmatic patients. One such option is MyDay® toric, which uses the same proven and trusted toric lens design as Biofinity® toric. With the combination of excellent and stable visual acuity, all-day comfort, the healthy advantages of a silicone hydrogel lens material and UV protection, MyDay® toric is everything ECPs and patients look for in a high-performing contact lens. When performance matters, MyDay® is the contact lens to match.

Questions for the College?- Fazal Khan, RO, College of Opticians of Ontario registrar, will be updating attendees on what’s happening at the COO and will also be answering questions you may have.
